Lundi, 02.10, 09.10, 16.10, 23.10 et 30.10.2017 - 19:00

Under the wing of The World Community for Christian Meditation (www.wccm.org), a group has been set up in 2015 to meditate in the Christian tradition that was rediscovered and revived by a Benedictine monk, John Main OSB (1926-1982). The origins of Christian meditation go back to the Desert Fathers and to John Cassian (c 360─435).

The essence of Christian meditation is stillness, silence and simplicity. Meditating in the Christian tradition is about being with God rather than talking to God or thinking about God. Simplicity means letting go of all self-analysis and self-reflection. Silence means letting go of all thoughts, ideas and images. Stillness means letting go of desire. Following Jesus’ words, we leave our (false) selves behind to return to our true selves and find peace and joy in God.

You are welcome to join us on Monday evenings at 7 p.m. in the crypt of the Chapel. Please come about 10 minutes early, because we need to lock the entrance to the Chapel before we start. The meditation evenings take about 45 minutes, including 25 minutes of meditation proper, after which we invite you to stay on for refreshments and fellowship.

The Brussels Christian Meditation Group is ecumenical. All are welcome. Come as you are.

Please contact Frits Smulders at frits.smulders@icloud.com if you have any practical questions or if you plan to come for the first time, as evenings may occasionally be cancelled at short notice due to unforeseen circumstances.

Que le vent soit toujours
