CONCERT OF CROATIAN A CAPELLA GROUP “TRAGOS” IN BRUSSELS - 24.04.2017

KLAPA SINGING is an original Croatian style of music, a form of traditional a capella singing from Dalmatia (the coastland region of Croatia on the Adriatic Sea). In 2012 klapa music became part of UNESCO’s list of Intangible Cultural Heritage. The word klapa translates as "group of friends" and traces its roots to the 19th Century. The first organized church and secular choirs, brass bands, urban string bands and orchestras directly influenced the formation of a capella musical expression. The songs celebrate the native region, the sea, love, conviviality, friendship... A klapa singing group consists of four voices : a first tenor, a second tenor, a baritone and a basswhile it is possible to double or even triple the voices. Thus, a klapa is usually composed of up to a dozen singers. More about klapa singing : http://www.aklapela.hr/klapa.php?lang=E

KLAPA "TRAGOS" comes from one of the Dalmatia’s most picturesque cities - Trogir, which was in 1997 inscribed into the UNESCO World Heritage List. Trogir is also known as a city of klapa music and performers. One of its best klapas is "Tragos", founded in 1996 (Tragos is the old Greek name of Trogir). This klapa marked its first success at a festival already in the first year after its foundation. Since than they have been regularly performing at the most important klapa festivals and gave numerous concerts. They are proud recipients of a large number of awards and prizes. Klapa "Tragos" also sang in Austria, Hungary, Italy, Monaco, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Chile and Indonesia. More about klapa Tragos  :http://www.aklapela.hr/klapa1.php?b...
